projects – all aboard for stockwell

All Aboard For Stockwell

From autumn 2011 to spring 2013 we delivered a community project focused on the Stockwell Bus Garage, a modernist concrete building from 1952. The project, All Aboard for Stockwell, which was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, included an oral history programme, school and community architecture workshops and architectural Routemaster bus tours. The aims were to raise the profile of this wonderful Grade II listed but relatively little-known building, to engage the local population, to discover and record more about it and to use it as inspiration for creative work. Through the oral histories we’ve learnt more about how the garage was built, what it is like to work in and how it has impacted on the local area. The workshops have given participants the opportunity to visit the garage and use it as a catalyst for creative work.   Further information and examples of the work produced can be seen on the project website,
